Respondus 4.0 is used by instructors to create exam/quiz questions in Microsoft Word and then upload them to Canvas.
This is not LockDown Browser.
Installation
SVSU does not own a university-wide license for Respondus 4.0.
Instructors need to either purchase a permanent activation password or register for a temporary, 30-day password.
For either version, begin by downloading and installing Respondus 4.0. Note that it is only available for Windows computers, it does not work on Mac OS.

- Carefully follow the installation instructions, with special attention to the following key steps:
- Step 1 - for the download link
- Step 4 - Click the correct link to receive a password for the version you want
- Free, 30-day trial
- One-time purchase of a lifetime license (paid)
- Once you have downloaded and activated Respondus with the password, you are ready to use it.

Question Format Examples
To ensure a successful import, follow these guidelines for each question type before uploading the Word file to Respondus 4.0.

Overall
- Each question must be numbered. Use one of the following formats for numbering:
- Correct answers are indicated by an asterisk placed in front of the answer choice, (do not place a space in between them).
- * denotes the correct answer(s)
Multiple Choice Example
There must be a space in between the question number and the question. Each answer must begin with a letter then a period or parenthesis.
