Request Lecture Capture (EchoVideo course)

Click the Create Ticket button (upper-right of your screen). Instructors can record their classes, special events, lessons in our Lightboard studio, or on their computer. You will receive an email when your course(s) are ready and connected to your Canvas course. Note: If you have embedded your videos in Canvas to share your recordings, you don't need to request an EchoVideo course.

About EchoVideo Lecture Capture

EchoVideo (formerly Echo360) is a lecture capture system that is used for in-person, hybrid, flipped, and online courses. The system includes engagement tools and gathers usage analytics to monitor student participation, supporting both synchronous and asynchronous teaching. Note: Instructors, TAs, can always access their content within Canvas or outside of Canvas from echo360.org

Faculty can publish content to a EchoVideo course (must request each semester). Students can view recordings or answer polls on their computer or on their mobile device before, during, or after class.

Top 5 Benefits of Teaching with an EchoVideo course, include:

  1. Students can join a class Live and review what was taught in class.
  2. Students can take Notes, ask Questions, and review a recording at their own pace.
  3. Students can participate in Discussion and respond to polling questions.
  4. Students that take Notes will automatically have a digital study guide.
  5. Students that cannot be in class can participate in Discussion, Q&A, take Notes, and respond to polls even if they are attending virtually.
Embed videos in Canvas. Recommended for Modules. Embed media (e.g., announcements, assignments, discussions, quizzes, pages, or syllabus) a EchoVideo course is not required.

Lecture Capture = Student Retention because learners can rewatch, participate during or after class, they can follow along with a transcript, and more. What can I record with EchoVideo?

  • Record class lectures.
  • Record mini lessons prior to class.
  • Record assignment instructions or expectations.
  • An exam review or feedback for homework submissions.
  • Record feedback for an entire class or for individual students. 
  • Pre-record lectures before class and have students watch them to make time for student discussion or activities during class.
Note: Alternatively, faculty can record guest speakers or students can record presentations in specific rooms on campus.

Can I track student video views? 

EchoVideo gathers all usage Analytics so you can monitor student participation and provides lecture tools that both the instructor and students can use before, during, and after class.
